Ruby Ibarra | Pinoy Hiphop Superstar

Ruby Ibarra, PHS Card
Biography
Ruby Ibarra is a Cali-bred spoken word artist/rapper/lyricist. Born in the Philippines and raised in the Bay area; she has been writing and rapping for several years, but this past year – decided to take her art to another level and to pursue it professionally.
Penning her lyrical style as 90’s hip-hop sound with elements of raw poetry.
Ruby describes her style as “a variety of topics — boastful raps, about my culture, society, politics, my experiences, and stories of others that I feel haven’t been told too often.”
Pursuing more success as a talented a rapper and lyricist, the 24-year old is now ready to take a run at the spotlight. She soon caught the attention of XXL Magazine by being featured on their site column ‘The Break,’ and MYX TV cable channel.
“I’ve performed in different bars, clubs, and universities across the United States in the past year – one of my more memorable experience was opening for members of Hieroglyphics in Sacramento, and when I was able to rap a few verses on the Grind Time Now stage at the 2011 Rock the Bells.” Says Ibarra.
With the ups and downs that come with being in the industry, Ruby has a strong foundation to stand on from her family, despite the shadiness the business can be at times.
“I try not to be intimidated by the fear of rejection or failure in the music industry because at the end of the day, I’m doing this because I love it, enjoy it, and it’s one of the things I feel natural in and know that I’m good at.”
Ruby continues to hone her skills, while currently working on a mixed tape. She is focused on reaching her the long-term goals of having multi-platinum selling albums, touring the world, and most of all, maintaining control over her art and image.
By diligently charting her own course, aside from the many other lyricists and Youtube sensations, Ruby is definitely on the industry’s radar as next to blow.

Ruby Ibarra Circa 91 - Album Review

Ruby Ibarra Circa 91 album is empowering. It's about being proud of one's self, racism, a fight for equality, an audio presentation of life in the other country. It's raw and vivid. It is an album a real rap fan will surely love and must have. She spits her bars like no one and you need to listen carefully how words are so deep and well written. This one is a classic. It is not an album that will turn you into a hip-hop fan in an instant but if you're a fan of Ruby Ibarra already it will surely make you stick. This is how you hit them with the realist. #PHSReview

Random Interview with Maria Frizzygurl

*Pictures belongs to King Manieg

Frizzygurl isa sa mga underground femcee so what's up with her lately?
sino nga ba sya? anong mga susunod nyang galawan
im able to talk to her, although not continuously
so ano nga bang mga napag usapan namin? read below:

wait before we start soundtrip ka muna:

PHS: Kamusta ka ngayon Miss Maria, what are you up to lately? anong bago

Maria Frizzygurl: Sa ngayon masasabi kong bumabangon ulit. :))

are you currently into a group right now?

Solo artist muna under by Beatstyler Production padin.

PHS: I see... i think it's a nice move to go solo sometimes. para mas hawak mo ang mga desisyon mo, so magkakaroon k ng album are you almost done with it? ilang tracks kaya ang meron sa album nato at kelan to lalabas?

PHS: So in this upcoming album do you have any collabo's? ano mostly ang mga tema ng tracks

Maria Frizzygurl: Mostly puro sya kwento.

PHS: Lastly any final words for your supporters? at sa mga nangangarap pumasok sa hiphop scene?

Random Interview with Rechi (Leslie)

rappers and producer na hiphop ang genre, and versatility prevails
and she did learn a lot from it. teka break muna tayo soundtrip

Luckily i have chance to talk to her
ano nga bang mga napag usapan namin? read below:

PHS: First question you choose that moniker "Rechi" does that have any meaning? how did you came up with that?

PHS: Wow that quite a history huh, sa 4 years ng PHS lately ka lang ng pop up why is that? kelan ka ba naging into music?

PHS: Pero do you consider yourself in the hiphop world? o banda tlg?

PHS: So that means at first your not really into it. how inspires you to do music, i mean you said gumawa kana nag sarili mong lyrics sino nag push sayo? can i ask for a sample of that one too o wala pa

Rechi (Leslie): Si...

PHS: Papano mo sya nakilala?

PHS: WOW really? so have you guys meet before or hindi pa tlg?

PHS: So you never been with anyone artist yet?

PHS: If you ever visit the philippines are you willing to go meet the others and perform on stage?

PHS: But you really have a good voice iba nga lang talaga minsan pag sa stage and im excited to see you performing live one day too, so what are your future plans do you plan to make mixtape, or you want to just have collabo.

PHS: Nice, you also have followers and fans what can you say to them

PHS: It's nice that you open to criticism as well, i'll be honest di ko pa napapakingan ang mga songs mo most na napakingan ko ay covers, but it's nice that your starting with this na, as far as boses ang pag uusapan well you really have a good one. So what can we expect more about you?

PHS: I know you will one day. just keep that faith and hasain ang talent from time to time. any last words from you, message for anyone and give a shout outs too

PHS: Thank you  boss Rechi

Rechi (Leslie): Thank you bos PHS ! hehehe ^^

She became a personal friend.. Not being bias or anything

Jozza: Ahh, yes... Were currently workin in a TV Reality show with Qyork. That would be aired on an intl cable channel and in Guam. Were also workin on the music vid of Salbakuta'S GRABE KA track.. And Bobby SKy's D7 band's "Kailan kaya" and a new Music Video for Covenant’s 2nd Album Featuring DX Rhyme from New York.

As for events. Were continuing the benefit events.. Our latest will be the LAPIS AT PAPEL benefit concert. PHS: So that's a lot under your belt ha, how do you manage your time?

Jozza: Oo nga ehh.. I always wish na sana di lang 24 ang iras na meron sa isang araw but then again im so thankful na nagagawa ko oa din lagat ng paisa isa

PHS: it's really nice to have someone as dedicated as you, i remember you from that freestyle wall batter before ginulat mo pako nun but now your are in everything and you been dealing with the pioneers now so how it feels like working with the legends like boss Chill and other big names from the business?

We'll promote it soon.Im thankful to all the hiphop pioneers for trusting me and giving value on what im doing in the scene.. This really means a lot to me., This guys are my inspiration & idol for real.

PHS: it's nice that your not just new school hiphop you also learn or tried to love the old school. sa tingin mo is the blending of oldschool hiphop and new school are possible? maraming new school kasi wala tlagang alam sa pinag mulan at walang concern...

Jozza: Im a 90's baby & I love oldschool hiphop. It’s the grass roots of the industry that we are keeping alive right now. And yeah ofcourse I believe that the unity & blending of the oldschool and us newschool will make this industry stronger. Im not saying I do know everything about the history but for me its just a matter of passion. Commitment and all love in this culture.

PHS: anong opinion mo for the current state of hiphop?

Jozza: Opinion ok.. I can see that everybody's tryna make their own movement. Different ideas. Different perceptions. That for me is the reason why we are being heard. As per my own observation, we are being heard (filipino hiphop music) but ofcourse we shud not forget that hip hop specially to our dear pioneers is a sacred culture and lifestyle that cant be re-face.
